About Lisa

Many clients have told me I have a unique approach to counselling which is both personable and direct. I ‘d like to think I provide a safe space to explore the roots of being human as well have a whole toolbox of tools to apply in everyday life.

In my counselling practice, I embrace a humanistic approach that is deeply rooted in the belief that each individual is unique. This client-centred perspective honours individual diversity, and my worldview extends into the systemic, recognizing that we are all part of various interconnected systems, such as families, healthcare, government, and cultures.

The foundation of my therapeutic work is rooted in attachment theory and experiential learning, by engaging clients in a hands-on, immersive therapy that utilizes expressive tools like mindfulness, music, guided imagery, artistic expression, animal-assisted therapy, and eye movement (OEI). I am dedicated to creating an environment that allows for a multidimensional therapeutic journey.

Taking a feminist approach, I prioritize the experiences and perspectives of marginalized groups, aiming to challenge and dismantle patriarchal power structures within the counselling room. Additionally, I incorporate elements of the constructivist realm, viewing individuals as active creators of their reality and emphasizing accountability to one’s experiences.

My counselling style is fluid and I integrate aspects of structured methods when needed. Describing my approach as integrative, I draw from a multimodal toolkit to create personalized treatment plans for each client, recognizing that one size does not fit all.

Attachment theory serves as a foundational framework in my practice, explaining how early relationships shape social and emotional development. Drawing parallels from my background in training horses, I approach counselling with the understanding that every individual is unique, and therapy should not force a person into an unnatural way of being. Trust and regulation are essential in creating an environment that fosters authenticity and growth.

My integrative approach lends itself well to a multitude of areas in the human condition.
