About Margo

Hello! My name is Margo Graham and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. I have over 10 years of experience working as a school counsellor in the Elementary school system where I work with children ages 5-13, their families, and various community agencies. Some of the areas of practice include: anxiety, learning and behavioural issues, trauma, special needs including Autism and ADHD, as well as mental health concerns. Simultaneously, I have 8 years experience working with an Employee and Family Assistance Program where I work with adults who are looking for support in the areas of life transitions and change, personal growth, relationships, and parenting.

Since we are all beautifully unique, counselling is personal and should not take on a one size fits all approach. Instead, it should be tailored to the individual and their specific needs and desires. My belief is that in order to best serve the members of my community, I need to take a small, but personal approach. This means that I am not overbooking or taking on too many clients at any one time. This allows me to focus on my clients and to ensure that I am helping them find the best possible way to help them reach their goals. Part of that is providing my clients with a safe, non-judgmental space where they can explore their innermost feelings, thoughts, and desires, as well as help them to reflect on their current behaviour patterns and life circumstances, which have brought them to seek counselling in the first place. Some of the specific and more common modalities and approaches that I utilize within my practice are: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solutions-focused Brief (SFBT), Attachment-based, Narrative Therapy, Sandplay, Person-centered and Neurofeedback. Most importantly, I believe that the quality and care of the therapeutic relationship is the key to optimal change and growth.
