About Maria Fernanda

Hello! I’m Fernanda McConnell (née Bruce) and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

I have over a decade of experience supporting individuals through challenges ranging from acute crisis care at Vancouver General Hospital to counselling students in UBC’s Faculties of Law and Medicine as they navigated intense academic and performance pressures.

In my practice, I work with people experiencing mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, and major life transitions, as well as those seeking greater meaning, joy, and alignment. I have advanced training in perinatal mental health and feel honoured to also support women through the transformative journey into parenthood.

My approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and attachment-based. I see counselling as a collaborative process: you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to provide a compassionate, respectful space where we can explore your experiences and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. To help you decide if it’s the right step, I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation to explore your goals and next steps together: www.musingfoxcounselling.ca
