About Mark

As a registered counsellor and therapist, I work with individuals of all ages, identities, cultures and backgrounds, and specialize in working with personal trauma and loss.

Client comfort and safety are my utmost concern, and while some individuals may be seeking personal coaching and guidance (e.g. parenting, career transitions), others maybe experiencing profound and impactful life challenges (e.g. trauma, loss, grief, relationship struggles, isolation and marginalization, substance use, anxiety, depression, as well as other mental health concerns). All are welcome.

Each individual is unique and rather than work from one paradigm, I adopt select, targeted, and proven approaches in working with clients to meet their goals, needs and expectations. Fundamentally, I build on client strengths to help find an inner peace in what sometimes can seem like the chaotic storm of life.

My practice offers a safe place for clients to tell their story, and to share their personal experiences and concerns. In working together, we will strive to build strength, confidence, and self-regulation by addressing your concerns.

I work over the phone and in on-line video sessions. I also meet people in in-person sessions, and through home visits for seniors and children. Regardless of the type of session, I adopt a positive, client-centered perspective and may use one or more forms of therapy: narrative, strength-based, response-based, solution-focused, eco-therapy, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, systemic, and/or trauma-informed.

I have specialized training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Bader’s Developmental Model of relationships, and Furman’s Kids Skills Intervention model. I draw on over thirty years of work experience in public safety, emergency and disaster management, and I offer a counselling/therapy specialization in personal trauma, loss and grief.
