About Mary

Hello!

I’m Mary Lucas (she/her/they), a registered clinical counsellor in Victoria, BC. I offer counselling to adults for a range of concerns including stress and anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, self-esteem, relationships, communication, and personal growth. I work collaboratively with clients to enhance and increase self-awareness, connection, self-compassion, and peace. I am strongly committed to improving the mental health of individuals and our broader community through my work and advocacy.

My approach is person-centered, combining elements of Cognitive Therapy (CT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy and mindful self-awareness. I draw on these skills and techniques to facilitate therapeutic experiences that will meet the unique needs and goals of each client. In session, I work to create a space that is grounded in respect, trust, safety, acceptance and empathy. I encourage openness and curiousity as we explore emotions, desires and meaning.

My education includes a BA in Art History and Literature, an MA in History in Art, and an MA in Counselling Psychology. I have additional training Crisis and Suicide Assessment and Intervention (ASIST Certification), Motivational Interviewing (MI), grief therapy, Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Somatic Attachment Therapy.

A free 30-minute consultation can help us determine if I am the right counsellor for you. Please contact me at [email protected].
