More than ever, people today are making their mental health a priority. When someone reaches out for counselling, it’s usually because of a problem they want to work through, something they hope to change, or an area of their life they desire to grow and develop. My passion is to support & walk alongside my clients at these times in their lives. Counselling is very much a collaborative process. I see my role as creating a therapeutic environment that feels comfortable and safe so clients can explore their inner lives more fully and come to a greater understanding of who they are.
I approach both my work and personal life from a holistic, whole-system methodology. I acknowledge the importance of backgrounds, personality, lived experiences, interests, strengths, family dynamics, work/career, spiritual and existential issues in a client’s experience.
I truly enjoy walking alongside clients in their work to create more harmony and balance in their lives. Rooted in being client-focused and solution-oriented, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Mindfulness-CBT, DBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Family Systems, Solution-Focused/Brief Therapy and Holistic Therapy.
My areas of specialization include navigating challenging life changes (divorce, grief/loss, change of career), expertise in chronic anxiety/depression, communication skill development in addressing family conflict or to improve interpersonal relationships, stress management for anxiety, panic disorder and burnout prevention/treatment, assessment of self-limiting behaviours that prevent growth & positive change, stabilization/safety planning for survivors of domestic violence, and peri-menopause/menopause transitions and symptom management.
I’m also a registered and approved therapist with Medavie Blue Cross (RCMP, Military and Veterans Affairs Canada). Also, I offer direct billing thru Telus e-Health with some insurers. Book a brief consult to discuss further.
