About Michelle Yoko

Michelle Francis is a Registered Clinical Counsellor BCACC, Registered Art Therapist CATA, Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator & experienced horseperson. She holds a Masters Degree in Art therapy and has been working with children, youth & families since graduating in 2012. In 2015, she noticed powerful & remarkable changes in youth when they were connecting with the horses. This encouraged her to study various equine assisted therapies, development & facilitation.
Equine therapies assist in developing skills such as emotional regulation, empathy, impulse control, building self confidence, patience & learning emotional expression with another. Horses provide an opportunity to build a trusting & supportive relationship with the human. Equine therapy provides grounding & connection with nature. Horses are effective for people who experienced trauma, PTSD, broken attachments & social anxiety. Horses are non judgmental, forgiving, honest & do not shame. The area of equine assisted therapy is very versatile and can be adapted to most client & situations.
Michelle and her herd of 5 horses have experience working with many children, youth, adults & Elders in First Nation Communities. Michelle can cater a program to your needs, whether for individuals, youth groups, women’s groups and organizations. She can travel with her own horses for workshops & camps, or work with other facilities� horses. Clients can come to the facility at Stone Reserve (Hanceville), Tsilhqot�in (Chilcotin Cariboo). Everyone is welcome.
