About Nicole
Hi there! My name is Nicole and it is an honour be part of your healing journey as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#20723). My counselling approach is centred around attachment-based, family of origin, somatic and internal family systems (IFS) interventions to support self discovery. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them face their shadows in order to uncover opportunities for inner growth and expansion.
I am accepting new clients and look forward to getting to know you should you feel we might be a good fit.
I commonly work with those who find themselves in unfulfilling relationships and a deep yearning to prioritize their own well-being more but may not know where to start. I hope to create a space for BIPOC communities who experience difficult relationships with their family through a multicultural lens, holding space for past traumas, invalidated emotions and experiences. I also help my clients learn how to set effective boundaries to live in a way that aligns with their values. Other areas I support are increasing self-love, reducing anxiety, emotional regulation and building healthy relationships using an attachment theory framework. Lastly, I also support those who wish to explore their self-identity more deeply, create more authentic and fulfilling lives.
During the pursuit of my Master of Counselling degree at City University of Seattle, I discovered that being in the role of a Clinical Counsellor not only fulfills my love for connecting and supporting others, but allows me to provide a warm, non-judgemental space for others to heal. Throughout my life, I have survived a death of a parent, marginalization trauma, identity issues and various other stressful life events that all make me who I am today. These lessons acted as a catalyst for greater self-awareness, self-compassion, growth and resilience, and are elements that I bring to my work as a trauma-informed counsellor.
Before deciding to become a clinical counsellor, I completed a Bachelors of Commerce at University of British Columbia and worked in the marketing field for several years. After working in Asia, I discovered my desire to provide a safe space for BIPOC young adults who grew up in a family where boundaries and prioritizing oneself is often not celebrated.
Therapeutic Approach
I believe that having the right support when embarking on a healing journey can be one of the most important elements to self-transformation. Together with my clients, I strive to co-create a space of connection, acceptance, self-awareness, and strength to support you with your therapy goals. Working in a client-centred approach is at the foundation of my therapeutic ethos. Through authentic attunement, clients can expect to feel seen and embraced for who they are in order to take the necessary steps towards positive change. A few therapeutic approaches that I inform my work from include Attachment Theory, Family of Origin Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
Through these experiences, I confirmed that one of my life missions is to support others in creating more clarity as they embark on their healing journey.
