About Sandra
Taanishi (Hello) I’m Sandra Conlon.
I am pleased to provide on-line, person -centered counselling to British Columbians.
I hold Masters of Education in Counselling and Bachelor of Social Work (Indigenous Specialization) Degrees from the University of Northern British Columbia. Working in the broader field of mental health and wellness for over 20 years, I have been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2016 and more recently became an Approved Clinical Supervisor.
My practice is holistic and integrative in nature. Working together with Indigenous as well as non-Indigenous folks (including Elders/seniors), I strive to weave empathetic therapy together with effective, evidence-based modalities.
For example, EMDR {Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing] can be a significant therapeutic tool in the shifting of trauma (including childhood trauma, abuse, car accidents), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD], grief, anxiety, stress and depression.
As well as EMDR, counselling with me may include DBT [Dialectical Behaviour Therapy], EFFT [Emotion Focused Family Therapy], Narrative and Solution-Focused modalities.
I deeply value my Metis heritage, traditions and teachings and am honoured to incorporate Indigenous and land-based principles and tools into the work we do together.
I feel privileged to walk alongside and therapeutically support those experiencing grief and loss, end-of-life and other human transitions.
While my services are provincial and virtual in nature, I am most grateful to be located on the magnificent unceded ancestral lands of the Kitsumkalum Nation. I acknowledge and welcome all nations and diversity of humanity in my practice.
