About Sheryl
My therapeutic focus is on the untold stories of the nervous system, including trauma. Through Somatic Experiencing(R) and therapeutic touch work, I assist in moving trapped survival energy, completing incomplete self-protective responses, deepening your connection to the felt sense of your nervous system, and renegotiating early attachment wounding.
I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), this credential awarded through the Somatic Experiencing International (SEI). I have completed advanced training in therapeutic touch with Drs. Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell.
In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I am an Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapist. IFS approaches our nervous system from a parts perspective with the knowledge that some parts carry burdens. Although their intentions may be positive, the actions/responses of parts can hinder our daily functioning and access to self-energy as a means of protection. IFS works with parts to listen, help, collaborate, and in some instances, unburden and release.
Since 2021, I have been offering couples’ therapy using the framework of the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) as a Level 2 PACT therapist. This multidisciplinary approach rests on the ‘big idea’ of secure functioning as the only way operate within a couple system. I am in the process of completing coursework towards dual certification as a Certified Sex and Couples Therapist (CSCT) and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) through the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute with completion anticipated in late 2026.
