About Tara
Despite your best efforts to change, you feel stuck in the same unhealthy patterns of behaviour that make it difficult to enjoy life. These behaviours may show up in the form of addiction, chronic stress, poor impulse control, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, or relationship conflict. They’re hard to break not because you lack willpower, but because they serve a purpose: offering temporary relief from pain, creating an illusion of control, or as an ingrained defence mechanism. At the same time, you want a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others. You want to face life’s challenges in ways that build trust, resilience, and self-respect, rather than reinforcing cycles that deteriorate your quality of life. I can help with this.
Clients come to me with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, ADHD, autism, relationship difficulties, and various forms of self-harm. I use integrated therapeutic approaches to assist clients in developing greater emotion regulation skills, communication skills, self-awareness, boundary setting, and other adaptive strategies to address chronic mental health symptoms. During sessions, I prioritize creating a trusting and safe environment where clients can learn about themselves, develop strategies to improve their mental health, and find the self-compassion and care required to maintain long-term well-being.
In addition to clinical counselling, I work as an inclusive learning teacher, where I have developed expertise in supporting students with diverse needs, including neurological differences such as ADHD and autism, mental health challenges, and physical disabilities. In my counselling practice, I collaborate with students with disabilities and their families to help them navigate educational environments, access appropriate supports, develop healthy coping and social-emotional skills, and build resilience that promotes overall well-being.
