About Tricia-Kay

Tricia-Kay Williams has a BA degree in Psychology from York University in Toronto O.N. and an MA degree in Counselling Psychology at the Adler University in Vancouver B.C.

Tricia has extensive experience counselling individuals and families and is skilled in treating: Trauma, Anxiety, Transitional/Career and Relational issues. She is also an active community and social services professional who worked for some years as a Residential Youth Worker.

Tricia works mainly from a Bowen Family System framework and uses techniques from a CBT, Narrative and Gottman methods. The Bowenian framework is holistic in nature, where it looks at the individual from a family of origin perspective. In colloquial terms, “no one is an island, no one stands alone.” In essence, the individual’s outlook and maladaptive patterns may be shaped by possible patterns from their family of origin. By assisting the client to come into awareness of these patterns, helping them to reduce their anxiety, and create balance between emotionality and cognition, will potentially allow for change to occur with the individual and the larger family system.
