About Valessa

Hello,

I’m Valessa Rizzotto, a registered clinical counsellor based in British Columbia. With over 20 years of experience as a psychologist in Brazil, I bring a rich tapestry of insights and cultural sensitivity to my practice.

The path to self-discovery is unique for each individual, and I understand the courage it takes to embark on this journey. Since immigrating to Canada with my family in 2016, I have been honoured to support other individuals in navigating life’s challenges and fostering personal growth. My journey has led me to earn a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, and I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development to ensure I provide the highest quality care to my clients.

I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma, manage depression, deal with anxiety and stress, and improve self-esteem and body image. Additionally, I guide those struggling with perfectionism, work-life balance, and grief and loss, offering empathetic support and tailored interventions for each unique circumstance. My theoretical approach is eclectic, drawing from evidence-based approaches, such as attachment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and dialectical behavioural therapy.

Whether you’re at a crossroads in life, aiming to enhance your relationship skills, or simply looking to cultivate a more mindful and balanced existence, I’m here to help.
