About Wesley

I specialize in working with men of all ages – particularly men with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety and depression – along with parents and couples. I am a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician with a government agency in North Vancouver part-time, and a contracted counsellor for adults with Hollyburn Support Services. In private practice, I meet with adults and families who reside on the North Shore, and with clients of all ages who live elsewhere.

You are probably someone who finds it difficult to acknowledge when you have a problem, never mind reach out for help. You came by this honestly. Early on, you were punished for showing vulnerability, and learned that guys are expected to project strength or keep quiet. This may have served you well in past situations, but that is not the case any longer. Recurring issues in your relationships have motivated you to change. If you have kids, you want better for them especially. You are not defective or broken, you made use of what you were taught. You are intelligent, thoughtful, and determined to do better. You can adapt once again and I can help.

I am a son, brother, husband, father, and counsellor. Before counselling, I worked mainly with young men as a probation officer over 12 years, and with adults at a residential drug and alcohol recovery program for five. In those roles, I learned to build on clients’ existing strengths and motivation to help them change longstanding habits using evidence-based strategies. You have tried to solve your problems on your own or with people you know. If you are ready to try a different approach and put in the hard work, then send me a message ([email protected] or the link to Hollyburn above) and we will talk about a plan.
