Registered Clinical Counsellor

Status: FTE0.5 Permanent Employee or Contractor, Onsite
Start Date: ASAP and accepting applications for several open positions 
Programs: Mental Health Services & Customized Recovery and Return to Work (CRR)
Location: Clinics in Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam, Abbotsford
Compensation:   a percentage-fee model (commensurate with education, experience, skills, and internal equity)

About the Role

Back in Motion is seeking a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) to join our Rehabilitation Services team. Reporting to the Rehabilitation Services Manager, the RCC will deliver a combination of individual counselling, psychoeducational classes, relaxation training, and evidence-based psychological interventions within our PTSD and CRR Programs.

This position works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Counsellors, and Kinesiologists to support clients on their mental health and return-to-work journeys.

PTSD Program Responsibilities

The RCC will provide trauma‑related treatment for adults previously diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering evidence-based PTSD treatments (e.g., Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy).
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Facilitating psychoeducational and skills-based group sessions.
  • Preparing clinical reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and participating in clinical collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with trauma-focused therapy is required.

CRR Program Responsibilities

The RCC will deliver short-term, one-on-one counselling support to clients participating in physical rehabilitation. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based interventions.
  • Supporting clients experiencing pain, physical injuries, or return‑to‑work challenges.
  • Focusing treatment on functional recovery and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
  • Completing intake, progress, and discharge reports within program timelines.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date clinical notes and records.
  • Delivering psychoeducational classes in group settings.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and communicating effectively with referral sources.
  • Exercising sound clinical judgment, crisis intervention skills, and adherence to Back in Motion’s policies and service standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
  • Strong knowledge of counselling practices in a rehabilitation context.
  • Demonstrated experience providing short-term psychological treatment.
  • Knowledge of effective pain management strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting clients with trauma is considered an asset.
